BBRE Gang Sheet Guide

Welcome to the BBRE Gang Sheet Builder Guide!

If you're new to gang sheet printing, this guide will walk you through the basics and help you get started.

Gang sheet printing is a method that allows you to fit multiple designs onto a single sheet before printing. Instead of printing each design separately, you can arrange multiple wraps, patterns, or graphics—on one large sheet. This helps reduce waste, lower costs, and make the most of your printing space.

Why is gang sheet printing useful? It’s perfect for businesses, artists, and creators who need multiple designs in one print run. Whether you're making UV-DTF tumblers, Decals and Stickers or Sublimated products, gang sheets give you the flexibility to print everything at once, saving both time and money.

In this guide, we’ll cover how to set up your gang sheet properly, best practices for arranging your designs, and tips for getting the best print quality. Let’s get started!

Section 1: Print Ready Images (300 DPI)

For the best print quality, all images in your gang sheet must be 300 DPI (dots per inch). This ensures your designs are crisp, clear, and professional-looking when printed. A lower DPI can result in blurry or pixelated prints, which is why high-resolution images are essential—especially for detailed designs, logos, and text. Jo and James use both Photoshop and Canva for image creation and generating gang sheets, however there might be other options available to you.

Using Photoshop:

If you're using Photoshop, you can export high-resolution 300 DPI PNGs directly by adjusting the export settings. Here's how

  • Open Adobe Photoshop and create a new document.
  • Set the width and height to match your desired print size.
  • In the Resolution box, enter 300 pixels/inch (DPI).
  • Make sure the Color Mode is set to CMYK (for printing)
  • Click Create, and start designing!
  • If you’re working with an existing image, go to Image > Image Size, then set the resolution to 300 DPI. Ensure Resample is unchecked if you don’t want to distort your image.
  • Save your image in png format

Using Canva (Pro Membership):

If you're using Canva Pro, you can export high-resolution 300 DPI PNGs directly by adjusting the export settings. Here's how:

  • Set your canvas dimensions to match your desired print size.
  • Create Your Design.
  • Click Share > Download.
  • Select PNG as the file format.
  • Use the Size Slider (only available in Canva Pro) and set it to the maximum.
  • This ensures the highest possible resolution, often 300 DPI or better.

Section 2: Print Ready Images (UV DTF & Transparency)

When preparing designs for UV DTF printing, transparency is crucial. Any part of your design that is not transparent will be printed—including unwanted backgrounds.

If your image has a white background, or white boxes around images,  the printer will treat it as part of the design, and it will be printed onto the transfer. This can cause unwanted edges or blocks of color around your artwork.

To ensure a clean and professional print:

  • Remove any unwanted backgrounds before uploading your design.
  • Use transparent PNG files (instead of JPEGs, which don’t support transparency).
  • Ensure that only the parts of your design you want to transfer onto the surface are visible.

If you’re designing in Photoshop or Canva, make sure to export your image as a PNG with transparency enabled to avoid printing unnecessary background elements.

How do I remove a background in Canva? (Pro Feature Required)

  • Create or upload your design.
  • Click the image > Edit Photo > Background Remover (Pro feature).
  • Ensure only the design remains visible.
  • Click Share > Download.
  • Select PNG and check Transparent background.
  • Download your image – it's now ready for UV DTF printing!

Tip: If you don’t have Canva Pro, create your design with a transparent background from the start or use an external tool to remove it.

How do I remove a background in Photoshop?

  • Open your image in Photoshop.
  • In the Layers panel, double-click The Padlock to enable editing.
  • Remove unwanted areas:
  • Use the Magic Wand Tool (W) or Select > Subject, then press Delete.
  • Check transparency:
  • You should see a gray-and-white checkerboard pattern (this pattern is a transparent area)
  • Click File > Export > Quick Export as PNG (Make sure Transparency is enabled!)

Tip: If the Magic Wand leaves edges, use Select > Modify > Expand/Feather for a smoother cutout.

External Resources:

There are a few websites that allow image background removal for free, such as www.remove.bg however these websites do downgrade your image quality, so be aware of this limitation when creating new designs

Example of removed backgrounds:

Section 3: Print Ready Images (Sublimation Prints)

For sublimation printing, white does not transfer—instead, it remains blank and un-printed on the final product. Unlike UV DTF printing, which prints everything that isn't transparent, sublimation relies on the color of the substrate to fill in any white areas.

If your design contains white elements, those areas will simply take on the color of the material you’re printing on. This means If your Tumbler is pink, and there are white elements such as letters on the wrap, then those letters will remain pink

Section 4: Using The Gang Sheet Builder:

The Gang Sheet Builder is our Shopify app that allows you to easily arrange multiple designs on a single sheet for DTF printing. This saves time, minimizes material waste, and streamlines your ordering process.

We have made some basic YouTube tutorial videos to assist you with getting up and running with both single image & Gang Sheet creations.

Section 5: Ideal Wrap Sizes for common wraps

All sizes should be created in Centimeters (CM) for ease of creation.

NOTE: As per the instructional videos - all of your wraps can be manually adjusted in the gang sheet utility, in fact you should always check your sizing for each image to ensure its compatible - See Image Below:

UV DTF:

  • 16 OZ UV-DTF = 24cm Width x 10cm Height
  • 20 OZ UV-DTF = 23cm Width x 19.5cm Height
  • 40 OZ UV-DTF
    • TOP = 28cm Width x 12cm Height
    • BOTTOM = 25cm Width x 9cm Height
    • NOTE: Try to avoid Hard Edges on Top and Bottom for better outcomes
  • Decals
    • Small = 5cm Width x 5cm Height
    • Medium =10cm Width x 10cm Height
    • Large = 15cm Width x 15cm Height
  • Custom = Any size you like as long as it does not exceed 57cm in width and 100cm in length

Sublimation:

  • 11 OZ  = 23.5 Width x 9.2cm Height
  • 16 OZ = 23.5cm Width x 12cm Height
  • 20 OZ = 23.8cm Width x 20.9cm Height
  • Storyboard = 20cm Width x 19cm Height
  • Car Coasters = (Circular) 22.8cm circumference
  • Clock Face = (Circular) 94.92cm circumference
  • Phone Cases = 8cm Width x 16.5cm Height
    • Note that the phone case sub will lose some of the top left screen where cameras are typically located on phones - adjust image focus where necessary

Section 6: Gang Sheet Positioning

The BBRE Gang sheet's Maximum Width is 57cm whilst the Maximum Length is 100cm

Proper gang sheet positioning is essential for maximizing efficiency, reducing waste, and ensuring a smooth production process. When arranging your designs:

  • Optimize Space: Position your images to fit as many as possible while maintaining print quality.
  • Avoid Overlapping: Ensure no designs overlap
  • Maintain Consistency: Keep designs aligned properly to avoid misprints or cutting issues.
  • Consider Cutting & Application: Leave enough spacing between designs if they need to be cut individually.

By carefully positioning your designs, you save material, reduce costs, and speed up production, ensuring the best results for your prints!

As an example - Using optimum spacing on a gang sheet for a run of 16 OZ DTF Wraps, you should in theory be able to get 18 Wraps per Meter printed

  • 2 Wraps Per Row
  • 9 Rows Per Meter
  • Minimum 1cm gap between each print for optimal cutting distance

Remember - The App will tell you if your images are out of print lines or overlapping by a bold RED line, and a GREEN line will show if your prints are optimally placed.

Section 7: Recap

  • Check your Image DPI Quality
  • Check the image does not have any background colors/images you do not want printed
  • Check the image is properly transparent
  • If it's Sublimation, ensure any white objects have been accounted for
  • Check the image size lines up with your expected outputs
  • Maximize the amount of images you are fitting on the Gang Sheet
  • Ensure there is a suitable gap between images for easier cutting

Good Luck! and happy Gang Sheet Printing!
